This device offers autonomy to visually impaired people, giving them the means to develop a completely new perception of their environment. It consists of a mini-camera, clipped onto glasses, which communicates the person's 3D environment in haptic language. It is connected to a lumbar belt that tactilely reproduces these images on the back thanks to a built-in algorithm.

An ergonomic device & a powerful application

Eyeglass Clips

The sensor clips onto a standard pair of glasses.

  • 3D sensors

The Haptic Belt

It is connected via USB-C to the bezel temple. It contains:

  • A battery that can run the device for up to 8 hours at a time
  • A mechanical display system
  • A coating to wear it directly over a layer of clothing (shirt, t-shirt, polo shirt).

The image filmed by the camera is transcribed on the user's back thanks to small taps generated by the haptic belt. These subtle impulses, felt through the clothing, create a haptic representation that draws objects and obstacles captured by the camera, thus providing a tactile perception of the environment.

Like any new tool, it takes a short period of time to get used to it, but our device is designed to be intuitive. Within a few minutes of use, users are usually able to intuitively perceive large objects thanks to the haptic representation provided by the device.

The technology manages moving objects by allowing users to feel the movement of these objects on their backs through haptic sensations. This experience is intuitive, similar to hearing a car passing nearby, providing a natural haptic representation of the movement of surrounding objects.

The device is able to detect small obstacles through cameras similar to those found in smartphones. If a smartphone can take a picture of an object, our technology will also be able to detect it, providing reliable detection of obstacles, including the smallest ones.

The system understands the relief and depth of an object by transmitting haptic volumes. Very quickly, testers cease differentiating between the sensations of the device and spatial hearing/sense of masses, thus offering users a super sense of masses with the technology.

The device works at night, but it is most effective during the day or in low-light conditions. Although it is operational in the dark, accuracy may be slightly affected compared to illuminated environments.

Coming to grips with the device can be slightly tiring at first, but it quickly becomes more restful to use. Thanks to the haptic representation of the environment, users need not be constantly on guard, allowing for more effective anticipation and more comfortable use in the long run.

Using the device is very simple, just plug it in and it works. For those who wish, advanced options are available to further customize the experience, but the basic handling is accessible to everyone.

The benefits of the device extend to people with visual impairments, such as people with low vision and the blind. It can also be used as an adjunct when using a guide dog, a white cane, or an audio description. The rehabilitation and mobility of visually impaired pedestrians can be improved through obstacle detection, making the device a valuable tool for these people.
